"Through the Lens" is a documentary about the life and work of Sigrid Zoëga, one of the first women photographers in Iceland. Sigrid was a pioneer in icelandic photography and a a successful studio photographer in the beginning of the 1900s. she apprenticed with the renowned German photographer August Sander form 1911 to 1914, while he took the photos that formed the core of his masterwork, "Men of the 20th Century."
"Through the Lens" is a photographic journey, rich in archival footage and photographs, through the heartbreaks and triumphs of these two remarkable individuals who remained friends throughout their lives.
Featuring the photography of Sigrid Zoëga and August Sander, and interviews with their families, friends and photo historians.
Shot on location in Iceland and Germany.
